Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail

Brief About the for Windows Live Mail to Mac Mail

Hello people! I am writing this article to share my own experience. Just like a layman I upgraded my system from Windows XP to Windows 7. It was done successfully. Problem came when I wanted my Outlook Express emails then got to know Windows Live Mail does not support OE messages.

Outlook Express is the default email client of Windows XP & both DBX and EML file formats are supported by Outlook Express. A .dbx file can only be viewed in Outlook Express while an .eml file can be viewed in Outlook Express and some other email clients as well. But Windows 7 has Windows Live Mail as its default email client and support only EML file formats to read and save email messages.

Then I did Google and for sure it helped a lot. There I browse so many websites and got so many solutions…

  • 1. Manual solution to convert Outlook Express .dbx file into Windows Live Mail EML format-
  • 2. DBX into EML Converter Tool

It converted all my DBX files into Windows Live Mail EML format in simple and quick steps:

  • Download & Install the Converter
  • Launch the program
  • Select DBX files
  • Click 'Convert Messages'
  • Give a location to save the EML files

When I imported the converted DBX files into Windows Live Mail, it worked properly and maintained its original folder structure and name.

Then I tried another manual method in which I copied all the .dbx files messages of Outlook Express to desktop and opened Windows Live Mail –

'File' >> Import >> Messages >> Microsoft Outlook Express and selected the location where I saved .dbx files.

In this manual procedure half of the emails were transferred and with different name and took a lot of time.

So finally I decided to use third party tools available to Convert Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail.

First I tried free tools which annoyed me again. Free tools are downloading and executing and it works on at its own risk. Earlier it was not being installed completely then after 4- 5 times I was able to download and install. When I launched the converter it does not worked properly.

The task was becoming horrible and frustrating then someone suggested to purchase third party converter tool and got to know about PCVARE software.
